How It Works

Creative's Garden for iPhone, iPad & Mac

One calm place to collect ideas, build projects, stay consistent, and share what you make. Here’s a walkthrough of every part of the app.

The Big Picture

Seed to Harvest

Every creative project follows roughly the same path. The app is built around it.

  1. 1CaptureDrop a thought into Ideas the moment it shows up.
  2. 2GrowPromote it to a project and build it out in the editor.
  3. 3CultivateSchedule time, set goals, and keep a streak going.
  4. 4CollaborateInvite others in to comment, assign, and refine.
  5. 5SharePublish to your portfolio or export a polished file.

1 · Organize

My Garden: every project in one place

My Garden is your home base. Each project starts as a Story, Poem, Song, or a custom category you define, and each type comes with tools shaped to how you actually work.

  • See projects as a List, cover-art Tiles, or a Kanban board with your own status labels
  • Custom categories: name them, color them, pick an icon, and choose which tools and blocks they use
  • Hide, duplicate, archive, or recover projects from the Trash
  • Search your whole garden from the sidebar

2 · Write

A block editor that stays out of your way

Everything in a project is a block: text, headings, lists, checklists, images, audio, links, and dividers. Press Return for a new block, drag to reorder, and keep writing.

  • Notion-style selection and floating formatting toolbars on Mac and iPad
  • Paste a link to get a clickable link or a rich preview card
  • Drop a photo into Compose to add it, or onto the sidebar to set a cover
  • Read Mode turns your project into a clean document with title, byline, and cover
  • Reliable undo and redo on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

3 · Make music

From lyric sheet to release-ready track

Write lyrics with chords, record or upload audio, and track everything about a song in one place, including the metadata you need when it’s time to release.

  • Record or upload audio blocks, with saved versions you can switch between
  • A full-screen player with waveform comments and avatar pins showing who said what
  • Chord charts with automatic transposition, guitar chord diagrams, and a Circle of Fifths key picker
  • A rock-solid metronome that plays even on silent, plus time signature chips
  • Genre, ISRC codes, release dates, and release links

4 · Craft

Tools made for verse, scenes, and characters

Poetry gets craft tools that normal text editors never have. Stories get structure: scenes, characters, and word-count goals so long projects don’t get lost.

  • Built-in rhyme dictionary, rhyme keyboard suggestions, and rhyme and repetition highlighting
  • Optional syllable counts and rhyme-scheme labels, plus a Writing Insights sheet
  • Story scenes with draft-to-final status, character profiles, synopsis, and genre
  • Goals for word count or a target number, tracked right on the project

5 · Follow through

Cultivate: tasks, goals, habits, and a calendar

Cultivate is where creative intentions turn into a routine. Plan your day, build streaks, and chase the bigger milestones without bouncing between apps.

  • Tasks with due dates, priorities, repeats, and a Past Due / Today / Upcoming view
  • A Calendar tab showing habits and due tasks at their time, with timed blocks sized by duration
  • Two-way Apple Reminders sync, plus Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, and Google Tasks
  • Goals by checklist steps, a target number, or time, and habits you can edit for past days
  • Reminders collected in an in-app notifications inbox

6 · Reflect

A daily journal you’ll actually keep

Reflections is a quiet place to check in with yourself. Log your mood, write what’s on your mind, and watch the habit build over time.

  • Daily entries with mood tracking
  • Current and longest journaling streaks
  • Total words and habit stats in Analytics
  • Journal reminders that vary from day to day so they don’t feel like noise

7 · Capture

Ideas: catch it before it’s gone

A visual board of quick notes for the thoughts that show up at bad times. Capture first, sort later, and turn the good ones into projects.

  • A sticky-note board with pinning and drag-and-drop ordering
  • Group notes into named folders that stack as tiles
  • Send text or a link in from the iOS share sheet in Safari, Notes, Messages, and more
  • Turn any note into a full project in a couple of taps
  • Home Screen widgets for Ideas, Tasks, and Goals

8 · Together

Spaces and real-time collaboration

Group projects into personal or shared Spaces, invite the people you make things with, and see changes sync as they happen.

  • Spaces with their own cover, quick notes, media, members, and filters
  • Invite collaborators, assign roles, resend invites, or turn collaboration off
  • Assign tasks to specific people, and comment right on the waveform
  • One All Comments view that gathers discussion from across a project
  • Storage limits that scale with your plan

9 · Share

Publish a portfolio and share your work

Turn finished work into a public page with your own link. Share a single project or an entire Space, with an optional password.

  • A public portfolio at creativesgarden.app/yourname with light or dark themes
  • Pull in publicly shared projects and work items straight from your library
  • Password-protected project and Space share links
  • Portfolio view and click analytics (Creative+)
  • Export to PDF, HTML, Markdown, Word, EPUB, chord charts, or a full manuscript folder

Under the Hood

Your files stay yours

Projects live on your device and in iCloud as readable files, named after their titles, so you can always open them in the Files app. Media is backed up to iCloud Drive too.

Sync everywhere

iPhone, iPad, and Mac stay in step through iCloud, with pull-to-sync and a visible progress bar. Collaborative projects sync continuously with a conflict history.

Private and secure

Two-factor authentication, log out of all devices, and self-serve account deletion, all on iOS and the web.

Made to feel good

A warm, glassy design with light and a soft dark mode, six accent colors, and font choices including New York.

Ready to plant your first seed? Creative's Garden is free to start, with optional plans for collaboration and more storage.
